Nostalgic Irises
One of my favorite things is irises. My great-grandmother always had these irises. I remember one time my great-grandmother Maria moved into our city apartment. But there was no garden nearby, and she had lived her whole life in a small house with a huge garden. Of course, she missed it. But since all the women in our family were very active (and Grandma Maria was no exception), she made a deal with a woman who had a garden and vegetable patch, but she was not very healthy, and she rented it out to her for a nominal fee. This garden was not far from our apartment, maybe a fifteen-minute walk. And for several years, Grandma often spent time there. Well, and so did I. . Grandma mostly planted vegetables there. But I distinctly remember that right at the entrance, among the first ones planted were these blue-violet irises, nasturtiums, and dahlias. Her favorite irises, and then aromatic herbs for cooking, and then tomatoes, onions, and so much more. Oh, what a happy childhood I had. When I see irises like these, I always remember my wonderful great-grandmother Maria and my happy, carefree childhood.
The painting was painted with the best emotions, it will give peace, tranquility and all the love in this world.
The original painting is in a private collection in the USA.
